AD OZIUM — In the Style of Dead Sparrows

Новы альбом Джэрэмі Мура (яго праекты Zabus, Zero Swann, Bell Barrow вядомыя нашым чытачам) пад імем AD Ozium. Гэта крута і вось чаму. Крытыкі заўсёды выдумваюць некаторыя словы, якія становяцца тэрмінамі для апісання музыкі або якіх-небудзь тэндэнцый у любым выглядзе чалавечага жыцця, але цяпер я не буду нічога выдумваць, тут будуць змяшчацца агульнапрынятыя тэрміны, якія пішуць гэтае з’яўленне. Для мяне гэта эмбіент, які трымае ў тонусе, я бы забараніў выкарыстоўваць словазлучэнне фрык-фолк, як у прэс-рэлізе праекта, але пазней і сам яго выкарыстаю.

Чаму я бы параіў тым, хто любіць эмбіент AD OZIUM паслухаць? Шмат каму не падабаецца слова «нішавы», але што рабіць, калі гэтае слова вызначае цябе, і яшчэ больш пытанняў, калі твая ніша знаходзіцца дзесці на гаўбцы, яна проста недосягальна высока ад партэра, яна проста андеграунд на даху. Вось гэтая музыка на самой справе, не буду… не буду высока казаць, што яна пераезжае час, тут уся сутнасць, што яна адпавядае часу, калі вы маеце досвед ва ўспрыманні такой творчасці. AD OZIUM — In the Style of Dead Sparrows больш схільны да акультнага дума, хоць такім зусім не здаецца, другая частка альбома, хоць не моцна адрозніваецца ад першай — да псіхадэлічнага з тонкім узроўнем скажонай параноі, як быццам тралейбус едзе па нацягнутых гітарных струнах, а пры гэтым трафік не вялікі. Цалкам магчыма, што здольнасць да канцэнтрацыі ўвагі змяншаецца з-за імгненнага задавальнення, які дасягаецца за кошт выкіду дафаміна пры праглядзе негатыўнай інфармацыі ў сацыяльных сетках, але, мабыць, менавіта паслабленне нашага запатрабавання ў запамінанні найболей згубна адбіваецца на адчуванні каштоўнага жыццёвага досведу. Гэта зацірае нашу чалавечнасць, вось і ўсё.

Шум выкліканы вібрацыяй струн пад напругай цікавейшы, чым наступны гук, ён стварае глыбокі базавы тон, багаты гарманічнымі абертонамі. Трэнне і скрыгат струн дадаюць тэкстуры, ствараючы тонкія шумавыя элементы, якія можна інтэрпрэтаваць як шэпт ветра ці лёгкае шыпенне, характэрнае для эмбіент-гукаў. Рытмічныя ўзоры, нагадваюць неарганічныя, але ў той жа час злёгку індустрыяльныя тэмы, якім не хапае перкусіі. Шорхі і рэзанансы струн пераплятаюцца з лёгкім скрыгатам, як быццам інструмент і цела зліваюцца ў адзіны арганічны гук, ствараючы ўнікальны гукавы ландшафт, напоўнены рысамі, толькі толькі рысамі фрыкфолка — незвычайнага, эксперыментальнага акустычнага гучання. Музыка будзе не проста гукавым фонам, а выразам унутранай псіхікі. AD OZIUM — In the Style of Dead Sparrows
A new album by Jeremy Moore (his projects Zabus, Zero Swann, Bell Barrow are known to our readers) under the name AD Ozium. It’s cool and here’s why. Critics always invent some words that become terms for describing music or any trends in any form of human life, but now I won’t invent anything, here will be placed generally accepted terms that describe this phenomenon. For me, this is ambient that keeps you in shape, I would forbid using the phrase freak-folk, as in the project’s press release, but later I will use it myself.

Why would I advise those who like ambient to listen to AD OZIUM? Many people don’t like the word «niche», but what to do when this word defines you, and even more questions, when your niche is somewhere on the balcony, it’s just unreachably high from the ground floor, it’s just an underground on the roof. This music actually, I won’t… I won’t say it out loud that it travels through time, the whole point is that it corresponds to the time when you have experience in perceiving such creativity. For example, my personal favorite, to make it easy for you to compare, are the albums of Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode. When you listen to it, even if you weren’t born at that time or were already born, but didn’t listen to them in the year of release, they don’t just convey the spirit of that era. You understand that this music roughly describes that year and those events pop up in your mind. Their music, it’s absolutely associative with a specific time, with a specific year in which it was released. It’s very cool, it can’t be done on purpose or intentionally, it’s talent. AD OZIUM can do that — it’s 2026. That’s why I don’t really like the term «untemporarily» in relation to many bands. Yes, you can always be cool and popular, your songs can be liked, but if they are popular for 50 years in a row, but do not reflect the spirit of the time of release, this is probably a very big minus.

I like to listen to such music quietly, so that I can more easily catch the tones and features, so it will be even better mixed with my brain. At the same time, passing the church on the way to work, I realized that even playing so quietly, the music drowns out the ringing of bells. And this is right, because the church never gives you freedom to think, does not lead to free reflections, but only to those that they need. AD OZIUM — In the Style of Dead Sparrows is more inclined to occult thought, although it does not seem like it at all, the second part of the album, although not much different from the first — to psychedelic with a subtle level of distorted paranoia, as if a trolleybus is driving on taut guitar strings, and at the same time the traffic is not heavy. It is possible that the ability to concentrate is reduced due to the momentary gratification achieved through the release of dopamine when viewing negative information on social networks, but perhaps it is the weakening of our need to remember that has the most detrimental effect on the feeling of valuable life experiences. It erases our humanity, that’s all.

I guess all good things come to an end. In fact, all bad things too. You could say that everything comes to an end someday. But above all this is not a cemetery fog in the form of ten religious tracks written in Latin, but a floor of pure blasphemy, which has yet to be thought of. Thought and emotion do not instantly take shape, they are felt in the process of manifestation. The noise caused by the vibration of strings under tension is more interesting than the next sound, it creates a deep base tone, rich in harmonic overtones. The friction and creaking of the strings add texture, creating subtle noise elements that can be interpreted as the whisper of the wind or a light hissing characteristic of ambient sounds. Rhythmic patterns, reminiscent of inorganic, but at the same time slightly industrial themes that lack percussion. The rustles and resonances of the strings are intertwined with a light creak, as if the instrument and the body merge into a single organic sound, creating a unique soundscape, filled with features, only features of freakfolk — an unusual, experimental acoustic sound. The music will not be just a sound background, but an expression of the inner psyche.
